Robert Thomas (American, b. 1975) is a dynamic visual artist based in Bucks County, PA. With a diverse practice encompassing painting, sculpture, and video, Thomas blends various mediums to create compelling narratives that resonate with contemporary culture. A graduate of the School of Visual Arts in 1997, he embarked on an editorial career that saw his work featured in prestigious publications such as Andy Warhol’s Interview, Nylon, The New York Times Magazine, and Surfing Magazine. This editorial background significantly influences his artistic style, particularly in his bold use of typography and commercial art references.

Describing himself as “obsessive” about design and typography, Thomas employs vibrant colors and striking typefaces reminiscent of vintage racing posters, paying homage to the culture that fuels his creativity. His first gallery show, Blurred Lines, marks a decade-long exploration of vintage motorcycle and car racing and the thrill-seeking culture surrounding it. “I’ve always been fascinated by thrill-seekers and risk-takers—those who truly embrace life,” Thomas states. He believes the boundaries between commercial and fine art are increasingly blurred, a concept that lies at the heart of his work.
